Architecture Videos

In the first video that i watched Prairie Style I learned that Frank Lloyd Wright was an architect that other architects look up to.  Franks style of architecture was of an open floor plan and a house was built to become one with the land surrounding it.  A house was thought of being "of the land" where rooms flowed and there was a unspoken feel that the home had respect for the landscape.

In the video of classical Architecture is was very interesting to see how some of the buildings built had such detail of art on the buildings   The Queens house was the most classical and grand. It was also neat to learn about the Ancient Romans and how the pillars concept started and the grand buildings that followed with the engineering where built.

I think that the videos related very well to the readings in chapter 13.  Chapter 13 discussed alot about architecture and the video went very well together.

My opinion of the films was that they were extremely educational.  I never new anything really about architecture until this chapter and through these films.  I also liked seeing alot of the different building and where they were located threw out the world.  The Frank Lloyd Wright homes were also very extraordinary in the way that they tie into the land.

I chose the Prairie Style video because i don't know much about Frank Lloyd Wright and thought this would be a good chance to understand what people are always raving about.

I chose Classical Architecture because i like to look at it.  It is just so beautiful and full of different aspects of structure and design that i thought this was also a good time to learn a little about it.
